@5jyp Sounds like an impatient shareholder. The bonus, for the 20+ years I've been here, has always been at this same time (LTI used to be around August before they moved it up to the same time). This is always RIGHT before the year end announcement. The earnings call is a week from today. My guess is topics will include: we made a shitload of money due to oil prices (though somewhere constrained due to the partial hedge), debt payoff accelerated ( creates shareholder value), partial restoration of the dividend (direct shareholder value), and forward looking guidance of how we can accelerate our plans due to the continued oil price (which means more debt payoff, opportunity to raise dividend, possible share buy backs).
Paid off debt will convert into additional growth in the stock price (as will partial restoration of the dividend). Asset valuation would require a substantial premium over the current share price. Should they sell, Oxy was nice enough to adopt one thing nice from Anadarko. They implemented a Change of Control should we get taken over. I'll take all the goodies and 24 months of severance if let go.
They should give some of the money to the shareholders instead. Just because oil prices are high doesn’t mean you deserve more. Also, if you don’t start driving the share price higher you will be bought. Do you want that. I guarantee your management doesn’t want that. Hey, why don’t you buy another company to increase debt so nobody will buy you.
Man the bonus was great!! Oil prices definitely helped.
A shareholder who monitors a layoff site tells you everything about his character. This guy probably never bought a single share with his own money. Everything he has was GIVEN to him by the company, including bonuses. Now that he's on the outside looking in, he wants to change the game. Total hypocrite.
If we get enough people together in a company who buys 15% we can force our way on the board and make things happen. Why hasn’t that taken place with the current guy who pulled this a while ago? Totally ineffective and all a bunch of gas.
@5yfj Help me understand what YOU did that contributed to the success of the company? Oh...you bought some stock. Good for you. I'm a shareholder as well. Do I like the dividend being higher, yes, sure do...but tell me how YOU, specifically, helped the company?
I wish shareholders would get off their high horse. Unless you are purchasing newly issued shares, that actually allocates capital to the company, then all you are doing is giving some other person money. Unless you own a sizeable enough stake in the company where the number of shares actually gives you a right to influence the direction of the company, go pi-s on yourself.
You want some shareholder value? How about you treat the employees with respect, pay them for the value they generate, and they will in turn produce at a higher level. That in turn will make the company, as a whole, more profitable. Whether that is through increase efficiencies that lower operation expenses or through innovative solutions that maximize returns on capital investment. Those higher profits will lead to better valuation of the company and your investment in the company will rise as well. That is the type of shareholder value I would want.
I'm pretty certain they will be announcing a nice dividend increase as well. The board just finished their meetings and the year end 2021 announcement is right around the corner.
To the last poster, we love to see you Seethe! Seethe harder.
Still too much given the condition of the company. Tell your management to pay a respectable dividend and then we can negotiate what a reasonable bonus should be.

I think it was fair to good. I had an awesome year but received a mediocre grade.
It was good and very fair. Other than last year Oxy has been good to me since I got here.
