Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

NM has no choice but to get leaner and meaner

NM manages to it's ability to pay policyholder dividends. And like it or not, Schlifske and his management team are earning high marks for their navigation of the company. I worked as a Director for NM for a few years. Fine company, but I was blown away on how insular and inward looking the culture is. And there is an employee entitlement mentality in the Milwaukee office. In today's ruthless financial services industry, NM has no choice but to get leaner and meaner. And people always pay the price for that strategy. There will be more layoffs, more cost cutting, more swapping out more junior for senior talent, more outsourcing. It is what it is. Welcome to Corporate America.

Well put, bumped for visibility. Posted by @uqd+1fdo2qQi.

“swapping out more junior for senior talent”

Huh? Have you ever actually worked at NM? More like swapping for less expensive junior talent.

NM will replace employee with 3-4 contractors/per employee!

No, this isn't Corporate America, but leave it to NM to extrapolate from their own completely archaic and broken ways that that's how the world works
