Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Tips for those thinking to leave or expecting a layoff

1- Start looking for a job now. The market is hot, you have nothing to lose by applying, if anything take it as a practice run. Right now you have more negotiating power and companies are willing to provide RSUs, signing bonuses and other benefits.

2- Use your PTO. If you leave, I assume is lost. If you get layoff you may get 1/2.

3- Benefits at Citrix are better, specially for insurance. Get ready to pay double and consider that in your pay negotiations.

4- Use your insurance now. Citrix insurance appears to be better and covering more so use it now. Get your vision, dentist and doc stuff done. If you get layoff, you may endup with Cobra. Get those big health items taken care now. Plus if you took advantage of the $300-$400 FSA stuff, you may want to burn through it early in the year.

5- If you are going to wait for a package or see what happens, then use this time to prepare. Get certs or whatever its important for your career. If you have been here for a long time, then apply to a few jobs so you can practice the interviews.

Use your PTO before leaving, it would be 1/2 paid outside California.
You keep all the HSA contributions(company and personal), it's your money.
Benefits varies, but here you get the market average for a tech. Not bad, but far better options are available, if you are to go in a Fortunes 100 company.
Be smart, get multiple interviews, reach out to former colleagues for referral and check levels fyi for comp info.

Even if you leave, you still get 1/2 paid time on PTO. HSA I can’t answer though.

This is helpful. Does anyone know for certain about PTO and HSA if you leave on your own terms?

Don’t agree with #3. Many places have great insurance.

This is a very good advice. Thank you posting it.

I disagree only with #2 in most places in the US (especially California) they can't take your PTO. They'll have to pay it.
