The moment nepotism overshadowed meritocracy was the moment NM started to sink. When experienced, knowledgeable people who work hard see those whose greatest talent is brown-nosing get ahead instead of them, they take their experience and knowledge and walk away. At the rate this has been happening, most of the best people will be gone within a year or two. With every right.

You might want to grab a dictionary and look up the definition of "nepotism." Northwestern Mutual has been plagued with too many underachievers for years. An entitlement mentality, where you clocked in at 8:30, worshipped eating free lunch with your pals and were first out the door at the end of the day. And where you busied your day going to countless meetings where you were unneeded attendee that contributed nothing other than sabotaging progress by interjecting your inane pointless two cents on everything. Those days are over. NM has finally joined the rest of Corporate America and become a meritocracy (you might want to look up the definition of that word too). Where you either achieve against tangible stretchy objectives, or you get booted out the door.
