Thread regarding ADP layoffs

Still recovering from burnout

After over a decade+ at ADP I recently left. Thankfully I have gained alternate employment, but I was at the point of leaving with or without other employment as my physical and mental health was suffering. I left on department due to hearing through the grapevine of coming layoffs. The department I went to had just recently laid off a while team with everyone have at least a decade if tenure minimum. The new team I was one was half the size of the previous and you would need to work 10+ hours a day every day including weekends to stay above water. Less than a year and over 3/4 of the team is gone due to burnout, the hostile work environment, lack of work life balance, and unreasonable expectations.

I am now at another company and truly realize how overworked we were. Making 40% more (yes 40%) and doing a fraction of the work. Even with all this, still recovering physically and mentally. When you keep having to go to the ER with chest pains it's time to go! Prayerfully I'm on the mend.

Some tenured managers are burned out, or some are really good at their other work but should be relieved of their managerial duties. Another problem is HR (not employee relations). It has high turnover of competent people, they ignore emails, and make it hard to reach them. Very ineffective.

SPOT ON!

ADP thinks hiring more bodies in India and PHP will pick up the slack! WRONG! The secret is out ! Offshoring ins't necessary cheaper and /or more productive. So they bring in cheap "leadership" (more like management) in from India (nothing racial or cultural intended - just the facts); who are tone deaf and culturally out of sync. This new leadership resorts to bully / operational tactics because that's what they are used to. New managers will soon leave when their stock grants vests.

You can either ride it out or get the heck out

Overworked and underpaid, that's the ADP way. #Workhappy.

Glad you got out and are on the mend

ADP is targeting tenured folks because they make too much $ (McKinssey told them so like a decade ago). So, they continue to do everything they can to make your life miserable in an effort to push you out the door. They cut the knowledgeable staff and expect double the productivity. The remaining tenured associates do the bare minimum as they can read the writing on the wall. The feeling of doom and worthlessness is omnipresent at ADP for most tenured folks I have spoken to. But those who leave discover that they have a LOT of value (much like you did)!
