Every day it's more bad news. I went from worrying about layoffs a few times a year to layoffs being constantly on my mind. I'm getting tired of this, it's emotionally and mentally exhausting. I think it might be time for me to start looking for a new job. I know at my age it won't be easy, but what I'm going through right now is not healthy.

I left in 2015 and started my own business. I was one of the Read-Rite employees. When WDC bought the company assets when it filed chapter 7 and stated that they would keep the same employees in 2002 I saw the writing on the wall. They kept the same mid and upper management that mismanaged Read-Rite to chapter 7. (Some remember the square to round wafer re-tooling debacle that happened too late). But I did not regret being re-hired. I just stuck it out through the many, many, many lay-offs. I am now owner of a profitable home inspection company and no more lay-off worries. Former co-workers who read this thread know who I am.
Leave. There are so many jobs and opportunities..with better compensation and benefits! The company cannot execute...CEO 2 years in and correct...he only cares about shareholders.
It may not be easy... but it's twice as easy as getting blind-sided some day and having to do it then. Trust me on that one. Being out of a job and looking for one is Bad news.
