When I realized that I live from paycheck to paycheck and that this company will get rid of me without mercy as soon as my health deteriorates, I slowed down. Ever since I changed my approach to my work and this company, everything became easier. The funny thing is that my manager has noticed the change and now he’s even addressing me with more respect. Really, is it worth giving so much to this company and in return getting barely enough to live from paycheck to paycheck?

This sounds like me, from my early teen years, until I was nearly 30. All I can tell you is that the company isn't responsible for your success or happiness, and if you want a better job, then you need to get after those skills to make it happen. Hang in there... but get after it. Go get what you want! It took me a long time to realize that it's out there. You just have to go after it.
Sounds like you already know the answer to your question.
