Thread regarding Fossil Inc. layoffs

What happened to the CIO ?

so the CIO job at Fossil Inc. is apparently an ejector seat. In about 10 years, even the most unpopular CIO is now no longer there, out of no less than 4 CIO`s. What happened ? When Ed Robben left the company as CIO, it took more than half a year to appoint Mary von Ahnen, a senior business leader as CIO. What will happen this time ??

This is an old post but just correcting a few facts here… The first CIO was Ed J from about 2000 to 2010 when he was forced out and into a special projects role… about 18 months later (2012) we got Ed R from JCPenney and his big accomplishment was outsourcing IT to an Indian company in 2015… in 2017 they forced him out and replaced him with Mary v A who was clueless about technology (Mary wanted a C-level position and forced Ed R out by lobbying the COO John W). She lasted a little over two years and then quit (or was forced out) to be replaced by Joergen in 2019. Jørgen left in 2022 to go to Alter’d State and was replaced by the current CIO Steve R.

Best of Luck to Altar'd State.

Last CIO was a lower cost option but unfortunately less competent, no vision and arrogance. His departure shouldn't be a surprise.
I would not be surprised too for that spot to be filled by a non-IT executive, perhaps someone associated with the eComm system. Is it an effective solution to the known problems?

It's not unusual for CIOs to last around three years at companies. It will be interesting to see who the replacement is. Fossil has opted for lower cost candidates recently. I would not be surprised for the spot to be filled by a non-IT executive, perhaps someone associated with the ecommerce system.
