Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

What happened to making smart business decisions?

Seem like they are more interested in hiring people from other companies than looking at the people they already have with all the years of service.
Kroger hasn't recovered from the early retirements they forced on people. All those years of experience now with some other company. Keep seeing the same failed ideas coming back in the company from VP's that think it is new. Like produce on boxes. So we throw away displays that would last for years. To put boxes that you have to replace 3 or 4 times a year. Doesn't even save money at first. All because they like the colorful boxes ??? What happened to making smart business decisions that saves money?

I couldn't have said it better. I agree with every word.

As a former manager (THANK GOD) The absolute most shitall of a company I have worked for. So many lawsuits against them, good ol boy club where the only chance for advancement is having your head up the a-s of corporate. The same tired people get promoted, moved around year after year. The absolute wave of happiness I got walking out of this disaster of a company brought happy tears to my eyes.

Nashville Division back in 2018/19 forced older topped out paid SM talent out, brought in SM from other companies, didn't kroger train them - used them as scape goats for all the issues there - brought in new president form WM and ran most of the new SM off replacing them with coordinators who previously did nothing but visit stores and complain.

They were terrified to take stores as they know that's typically a sign you are on your way out. Not sure how things are now there - but it was a total waste to bring in ppl when you had gobs of coordinators already doing nothing that should have been used instead.

It's almost like there is a cottage industry for passing around failed super market executives.

We got your cr---y ex-CTO at a regional chain called Giant Eagle and he's slowly destroying that business, too. Haha
