Another week, another wheel falls off

Company is continuing with policies and organizational changes that were decided by incompetent executives who are no longer around, accounts being left in limbo with no coverage at all, customers buying a service and thinking it will be fulfilled in-country (only to find out later that it will be fulfilled from offshore only), and way too many silos that don't talk to or coordinate with each other. If customers ever got a peek behind the curtains at least half of them would begin leaving immediately.

The US-based business buyers who are writing the checks certainly are not getting the white glove service that they are paying for. The typical dynamic is American sells to American, then offshore delivers to offshore, with a huge gap between what was promised and what is the reality. And the blame is shared by both sides.

How about being on a call with a Director level employee located in California who has such a thick Indian accent and was speaking so rapidly that she might as well be speaking Hindu? If I worked for a company based out of India, I would make sure I was understood. I worked at another Fortune 100 Company with Indian colleagues most of whom were easy to understand - here at VMware with the dominant role played by employees who are not from the U.S., I don't think that employee felt that she had to try to be understood. If I was starting a company in the U.S., my first rule would be that you had to speak comprehensible English.

Having a culture dominated by non-English speakers is hurting VMware.

The problem is most executive hired are there to make a quick buck without any idea of ground realities.
Create a big hype about the plan in the end no results.
Bound their salaries and monetary benifits with their feedback/performance see how quickly things turn around.
But that's for people with self respect and dignity which I guess they cant even spell forget about having one
