Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Impossible to make personal plans

Macy’s is not my first job experience. I worked in retail even before I got a job here, but I could always make plans in my personal life. Here it's become almost impossible. So I don’t think the problem is in the retail industry, but specifically in this company. Thoughts?

Stop answering your phone on your off days they aren't calling to see if you're having a good day and if they ever ask you in person to come in on your day off just say you're busy also using unavailable days is helpful aswell

Schedules are posted 2 weeks in advance, every Friday you get the schedule on the third week out from that Friday. If you have last minute schedule changes, then someone is changing your schedule and you are allowing it to happen. Just say NO, especially if you are not being asked to change your schedule before a manager it changes it for you without. Don't be a doormat!

Yes you can plan your life. Need a weekend off? Use your unavailable days. There's very few key days this time of year so you use the system tools provided to you and get your days off.

It's common today and in the future of retail. Open availability with schedules posted at the last minute. If you want to make personal plans get out of retail.

The system seems to only let you schedule 2 or3 months at a time. Half of the days are mandatory days. The system is down alot and can only be accessed from macys computers.
