You are nothing but a number to the company so expect to be treated as such. Employees who believe they're safe in all of this - and I know a few who are - are delusional. Every one of us is an expense that the company would rather save if at all possible. The higher the expense, the less safe you are. The sooner everybody accepts this, the better. At least everybody will be prepared for what's to come.

Unless you have a contract for exit compensation signed and notarized, you are nothing but an expense to a company. They do not care about you as a person, your family, your well being, nothing. All they care about is what you produce for them and how easy it is to replace you. These layoffs will be just like all other tech companies.

So your one in a million. Your a rockstar. That means the new workforce in India, there are a lot of people just like you…..
We are numbers here or anywhere else. You would have to be in a very small company to be more than just a number. At the end, you have to calculate the risks and benefits of working for anyone. At the moment, the risks at Citrix are extremely high and there is no benefits in the short or long run.
If you really believe that there are "rock stars" at Citrix who are immune from layoffs because of skillsets, experiences, quantity/quality of work, corporate knowledge, or even personal connections, then you simply do not understand how this game is played.
Imagining that there isn't a small handful of people who do the REAL work is being very short-sighted. You must not have been on the corporate scene very long. There are people who will be around to turn out the lights at the very end if they don't decide to get gone on their own. (And they're usually very well taken care of, so this doesn't happen.)
I know a true rock star who was let go last time , there will be more rock stars: founding fathers (you know if you know) departing before the merger happens. Guys believing someone is a rock star or believing they are one are being naive and delusional.
If anyone doubts the validity of this, swing by the Tibco page on this site. You’ll see a culture of personnel attrition. Forget all the drama, the name calling, the regret, the unfairness, and so on — I’m simply hoping that the Citrites that are left get as organized as possible and deal with this situation appropriately. It’s happening. Let’s band together on sites like this, or even by sharing our personal emails with one another and network our way out of this predicament. If Citrix taught us one thing it’s how to get out of a jam. F ‘em. Let’s gtfo on whatever terms we decide for ourselves. Wanna leave? Ok. Wanna stay and collect severance? Cool. Just stick together b/c it’s the last piece of leverage that we have left.
No, there are about a dozen rock stars who are absolutely safe, like at most organizations.
But yeah, overall, you've got it right.
