I keep thinking we could hear about more layoffs any day now. I can't relax even on the weekend. There were layoffs and closings before but at least the company was in a better position at that time. As it is now, it seems this is a fight to survive. That really doesn't bode well for us.

All I know is Okta is garbage
I worked for HyVee for ten years. The first 5 years I really enjoyed HyVee. Started out as a dairy clerk and my final job was operation manager. The last three years I could see the writing on the wall. HyVee didn’t care about its employees at all. The biggest change was how Randy was taking autonomy away from store because he knew what was best for HyVee to grow. Look at HyVee now with Randy style of leadership. He failed all the employees at HyVee.if Randy was his own boss he would have fired himself already. Dude can’t admit mistakes and keeps taking good money and throwing down a dark ho-e of bad ideas. Dude can’t even balance his own checkbook.
Don't live in fear, use that realization to motivate you to make a change. The market out there is hot for all kinds of jobs. Reach out to friends, people who have moved on, people in jobs you aspire to and start figuring out what you can do. Make it so you can look back on this day and this post and say "I took charge of my own destiny and I am not in a much better place for it."
And to be clear, HyVee, top to bottom, is a toxic culture full of gaslighting, secrets, and abuse of power. It's not you. It's them.
Gaslighting is a good word for it. Time after time, stores are forced to embrace the celebrity product du jour, then they get beat up and told it's their fault when the stuff doesn't move. Dwight used to say that you advertise what the customer wants to buy, not what you want to sell them ... The company has done a 180 away from our fundamentals, and it's heartbreaking and infuriating.
Not to mention what’s going on at store level. It’s constant fear of “make your numbers or else” when corporate forces us to buy whatever pinheaded ideas they have- and the amount of stuff is just outrageous. Stores throw so much of it or give it away at cost. Then the powers that be wonder why there isn’t much for gross profit.
I’m sick of the gaslighting and toxicity.
