Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

What kind of employee is "good enough" for Enbridge?

As hard as I work and as much as I am productive and engaged... always, but absolutely always my manager has some complaint. Both my colleagues and I are constantly exposed to criticism.

"Also, many bosses that I have encountered are threatened by direct reports who are clearly outstanding. So they find faults"

I have experienced this first hand actually. But it's funny to watch them get frustrated when they can't find those faults; especially when the boss is not a very bright person to begin with and are lazy on top of that. Remember, that the fact they are not that smart is the reason they feel threatened by you in the first place. Have fun with it and lead them on and around to make fools of themselves like a matador leading a stupid raging bull/cow around the ring.

Enbridge talks the talk for diversity and inclusion, but doesn’t practice what it preaches. Seen POC leave the place over the years because there is no promotional opportunity for them.

Never ever have I seen in 24 years here so many people quitting and going to other companies.
What a terrible company Enbridge has become.
It’s simple situation to fix for management but no one cares and right back them from the front line employees

I believe the point of that post about Pembina was that their "parameters" are turning people off. 20 resignations and it isn't even Q2.

Thinking about the long game can be difficult, eh?

20 people left Pembina? So what? That's probably a perfectly reasonable cost for Pembina to incur to reestablish the parameters they wish for their workforce.

Call me when oil stops flowing because those 20 were irreplaceable.

Unrelated to ENB specifically but Pembina is currently experiencing an exodus due to their work policy. PPL took the hardest of hardline stances against work from home/hybrid scheduling, and in an internal message, instructed staff to return to the office on X date. I understand that it was worded in a way that there could be repercussions and retaliatory measures taken against staff who refused to comply. Employees largely accepted it from big brother. Through the grapevine, they have been struggling to attract talent, and as staff have now received their bonuses, close to 20 people have left/or are in the process of concluding their two-week notices.

Enbridge, do not go down that road. Work with us. It is also an opportunity to poach top talent from these workplaces with antiquated policies and cultures. Now is the time to set us a part.

My opinion anyways.... maybe I am just idealistic and naïve ha ha.

ENB is going to get a harsh reality check on what qualifies an employee as 'good enough'.

As ENB'S majority share holder puts it:

"...employees across the globe are looking for more from their employer. Companies expected workers to come to the office five days a week... That world is gone."

If ENB doesn't step up their game with pay and work location flexibility they will lose talent and struggle to attract smart people. They will have to lower their standards of 'good enough' as you say. This is what Larry is getting at. The message from him in simple terms is this: adapt to the new paradigm or you will be liquidated.

Bosses are discouraged from giving their employees top rankings as it costs the company more in bonuses.

Also, many bosses that I have encountered are threatened by direct reports who are clearly outstanding. So they find faults.
