Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Direction keeps changing

When the Pilot rolled out, they reported to the OVM in conjunction with Visual and they would help where needed. During Q4 they signed, did fulfillment, helped replenish, recover, process truck. Whatever needed to get done. Now, I'm not so sure. Since there are really not a lot of hours in BOH anymore due to Pricing/Merchandising going to FOH there is really no clear job description for someone in BOH Support if you're not in Receiving or Fulfillment. It's very confusing and disappointing to not be able to tell them at this point what their job actually is. They are sort of in limbo because maybe next year, it's all one bucket with everyone doing everything, including Receiving. Now, I think they report to the Omni Operations Manager which was the last I heard, although in the roll out of the Innovative Selling Model they said that it was the Style Merchandising Manager's job to oversee it as part of Visual and Promotions. I have no clue anymore. But I feel bad that these colleagues are bounced around like ping pong ba--s while there are other colleagues whose sole job it is to just to stand behind the register playing on Tik Tok while ringing customers.

Bumped for good info from @2gyk+1fL2Q7OM.

There are sales associates who work nonstop and then there are sales associates who never lift a finger to do anything except ring the register.
In my store this happens because the store manager is useless and he is afraid of any and all confrontation. If he likes you you can get away with doing very little. If you are not a favorite you are expected to work all over the store.
The people who work are expected to do more and the the people who do not work get away with it. He and the managers take the path of least resistance. This is why turnover is so bad and six two one is a totally toxic work environment.

I am a sales associate and I wish I just stood behind the register all day and did nothing. There are a few associates that do that but not all. Most of the time we are running rods and putting back the rods on the floor, then there is fitting room and all that comes with that, also recovering the floor, I also help out with fulfillment and then assisting customers whenever they need help with something which is quite often. I don’t stand behind the register and ring all day.

What store has cashiers? I am a sales associate and I do not stand behind a register on my phone waiting for customers to come to me to ring their purchases. Most sales associates are goal-oriented and we have a list of them that we need to achieve.

I was with you until the Tiktok comment. Not necessary. Direct your venom at the company, not other associates.
