Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Last four years have been pure chaos

Everything is a mess, but the one truly terrifying thing is the fact that the managers who are making the decisions - and I'm talking small and big decisions alike - don't have any idea what they're doing. They also have no clue how to measure the results of their choices properly, which often prompts them to make the same mistake again and again. How do you fix something that is so prevalent throughout the entire company?

@4exx+1fTJqGR5 It is true the company has been in decline for a while now, due to wrong decisions from management. But the straw (more like a log) that broke the camel's back, was the SRD in 2019. Until then, everyone knew that during hard times, the deadwood would be let go and the hardworking employees would be safe. Not anymore! Now you are a target due to your age (nothing new here, I am afraid), your salary and your benefits, no matter your knowledge or dedication to the company.

There are no "rules" anymore to keep employees "safe" from layoffs. So much job insecurity is pushing out the talent that was not SRD in 2019, and making the rest really nervous. Now you may be a target if you work too much, or make too much money, so everybody is dialing down their efforts.

There was an increase in warranty costs after the SRD in 2019 because the company targeted the technical LL6s (and everybody else that was knowledgeable). Those positions were quickly filled with ignorants in the friends and family plan, causing a surge of office politics. Even people that were not like that before, are now more concerned with CYA than doing the tasks.

The company is now in an spiral of self destruction. BF went nuts, leftist nuts I must say. In the meantime, JF and the BoD just applaud Billy while they cash their bonuses. All managers are concerned with the ICE vs EV splitting, the employees are already demoralized and the company keeps losing market share.

I'd like to do like Nero when Rome was burning, but IDK how to play the fiddle. I know I am going to be let go. If not this year, next year top. In the meantime, I am taking it easy, no stress. I do a decent job (not my best) in my 40 weekly hours (No OT). I just bought a house in Florida, and I am saving some extra money. I am not looking actively for my next job because IDK if I'll be working anymore. I'd like to do an early retirement. I am tired of the rat race.

The CHAOS he refers too has been going on since the mid 1990's. Company has lost its focus. Quality meant something. Our Chiefs in Truck knew the customer. Since that time, we have seen a steady decline of market share.
Our execution of product development went straight into the toilet. The company is at a crossroad right now. As the market is starting to transition to EVs we still have not addressed our issues with quality & reliability.
Our complexity is out of control. I hear JF & HTT yap about complexity, he-l their one of the reasons it is out of control in the first place. Tired of hearing them point the finger at us. The problem starts at the top not the lower ranks. stop reading your cropped up headlines. because nobody buying it.
You want to be a leader JF or HTT. Then lead by example. giving up a parking spot is not enough.

@riu+1fTJqGR5 Sorry, the website only allows me to upvote you one time. Here are the rest..

@hfh+1fTJqGR5 Around when you left, there was an small reorg in my area. I remembered it well, because that was the first time I was thinking on leaving the company. My team was assigned under another LL6, which was so good at political games, that he was promoted to LL5 a year later. Of course, after all our fights with the LL6, we were glad to see him go and sc--w someone else lives.

The problem is that after that, even when I got 2 nice and knowledgeable LL6s, the company is going the wrong-est way possible. Lots of meetings, (some of them playing the videos of our "leaders" and their "visions") but no real plans, just empty words. The constant threat of losing the job, plus the lack of opportunities, have pushed some of our best people out of our team or company. Trying to make something happen now is harder than ever.

@hfh+1fTJqGR5 you left in 2018. The last 4 years have not been good. Captain Moonbeam started it with targeting senior, pension eligible high performers in their SRD layoffs. Then, he turned the reigns over to Chris' cousin instead of Joe Hinrichs. Meantime, Bill has been running as far to the left politically as he can.

The result, a complete disaster of a mess. Awful vehicle launches costing the company billions. Quality problems even on the flagship F150. And in the meantime management is trying to monetize vehicle features instead of selling them with the vehicle. "Build all vehicles with the same equipment, charge customer to turn things on." Meantime they are preaching "Treat customers like family." Apparently the Ford family squeezes each other for every penny they can get. Unless of course the preaching is all a lie.

That is just the tip of the iceberg. Screwing GSR/LL6 employees with an AICP of 54% while LL5+ received 135%. Our benefits get worse every year, and they are really screwing you retirees on benefits. We are hemorrhaging talent and the budget has been slashed so we can't even backfill. It means that those problems mentioned above only get worse.

They just 4 years have been awful. You got out on the nick of time. This board reflects the morale of the current workforce. So don't blame this site, blame Jim and Bill. I hope you took the lump sum because at the rate your retirement is not guaranteed. Another 2008 happens and this company is toast.

The mess the Poster refers too starts at the top. Senior management sets the tone. Not the GSRs or LL6s.
A realistic Vision and plan that anyone form the assembly line to wall street can understand.
Now we have a leader who calls the troop level not talented. But JF is a political animal. He has not done anything to warrant the bonus he was given. Sorry but retreating from vehicle segments, uncontrolled complexity under your leadership in both marketing and president does not make you a car guy. Infact, it tells us you do not know what you are doing. Bad enough Billy is still involved. he was driven out of the day to day by his own family. Sorry but I do not see a bright future. Glad I took the package last year. Sorry for those friends who are still there. led by blind leadership.

I left in 2018 - PRP. Things were pretty good where I was at. I left because I could, and life is too short to work if you don't have to.

This site is so negative.

We can’t make locks that keep intruders out of your vehicle, but we will sell you a camera and monthly service so you can have a video of who took off with your possessions. Unbelievably ridiculous.
