Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

April 1 is my final day here

I'm leaving for a position that pays about 10 percent less and I don't mind one bit. This is not the worst company to work for but it's not a place I want to spend another ten years before retirement. They say that it's just as important to realize what you don't want as it is what you want, and I did. I wish all those who're staying all the best. No ill will from me towards the company or anybody working there.

Ageism is real & may account for the pay reduction.
OP may be changing fields.
But if you make a low-ish salary, then losing 10% may not be all that much if it means liking your work life 70% more.
Good for you OP!

As a stronk independent womyn (she her ) I must say I'm very excited about my exit. For years it's been something I've doing for free at the NES but now I'm about to get paid some big bucks, real money doing what I love. I'm going to be a professional hot fluffer for the boys at Bang Bus Productions. See ya later gator!

@1xyi+1fS4194Y That is the truth. Can't think of many jobs at Cengage that would pay less elsewhere unless you're a director or above taking a demotion.

Best of luck. I did 10 years at cengage. When I started looking for a new job, I quickly realized that cengage is on the very low end of the pay scale. A job I held at cengage 5 years ago, I'm now doing elsewhere for 21k more.
