Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Overworked, underpaid

I'm so exhausted. Given how much I’m overwhelmed, I think I should be paid much more. I believe the competition pays more and I don’t believe they can overwhelm their employees much more than TD does? Perhaps someone has experience from competing companies.

You are going to get somewhat of a rude awakening if you leave and work for any growing business that has a growth & performance related culture.

Sounds like you are off staying out and just saying no to some of the internal work instead of finding another role.

The easy life does not exist these days.

Yes only you are in control of your own workload. A high wage doesn't mean job satisfaction

Find somewhere else to work. Teradata does not care about your quality of life. Give two weeks and go. That is two weeks more than they would give you! Don’t stay when they ask you to stay on, they are just waiting to let you go on their terms.

I've seen the same thing at every company with workaholic types. In every single case there are those who do what you say you're doing, and there are those who do their jobs and then flip the switch and have a personal life. You won't likely find it any better, anywhere you go, until you change your own outlook on things. I did exactly what you describe for almost a decade before learning better. Most companies will let you grind yourself into the ground if you're willing to do it. Don't.
