Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

Outdated technology

It's interesting how much is being said here about technology, innovation, and the real truth is that Broadcom doesn't really care about new technology or innovation at all. Everything we have is obsolete. An engineer can only waste his time here and nothing more.

Some innovation but company wants to spend on steady tech instead for those renewals.

Not this nonsense again. Did Computer Associates do "cool" $#it? If you think so you are delusional.... they were always years behind, lipstick on a pig. or new sticker on tricycle for Bike Boy.....

Ok fine. You guys are right. I wanted to believe we (AOD) too were going to ship "cool sh*t" but @1jhq+1fLUNmZA nailed it.

The AOD all hands today was a pathetic joke. Time to dust off the resume next week while most of my team is on holiday. Not that anyone would notice anyway.

The goal is to get the headcount down to near zero everywhere. Managers leaving in droves and other managers picking up giant pieces.

@1jhq+1fLUNmZA 100%.

heard similar rumor about McKinsey and a reorg a while back..., thought it was in the sales/support/field roles if I remember. doubt they'll look into engineering. any other departments are way too small and are trimmed to the bone so no reason to spend pricey suits to come in.

my guess is that since M&A valuations are so high, Tan Man looking to see where he can micro squeeze some more...a few hundred basis points here/there... yeah..

having been thru a "consultant slaughtering " in the past at another company... keep ur eyes open for any audits or documentation of what you do...or "plan sharing " with other teams... or "i can do that for you...". that is early kiss of death signs...

I agree with this... for BSG. There are other franchises that are doing cool sh*t. Sadly AOD and SED in particular seem to be on a race to the bottom and are lock step in a coffin spiral.

If either one had leadership with the courage to focus resources on potential winners all of this would be avoidable. Alas neither Scourge or Corvette boy seem to interested in more than vesting and promoting their cronies. Pity. Rumor is that Tommy has hired McKinsey to plan a reorg.

i can't think of anyone, engineer, IT support, whatever at BroadCon building skills or "innovating".... they're either old (waiting to retire), inept, or stooopid. plenty of other opportunities with similar/better comp....
