In my opinion, we are just too heavy too light bottom.
This resulted in high cost structure .
The last retrenchment , instead of streamlining and getting ride of execs and 28/29 level we got ride of working level of 27 and below. On the surface , the layer of fats were gotten rid of but the effectiveness of the Organization gone down drastically… bec we got ride of the good fats , the bad fats are still around ( execs , >28 and above).
We eliminated the ground troop that was engaging customers and we kept all the high cost pple (cl28 and above) who are not customers facing or operational. These CL 28 and above are good only at doing “ internal bz” , so the work churn continues by them which eventually cascading down to the already shrunk workforce ie CL 27 and below …… what do u think?
Let me draw analogy : all the Cl28 and above are drummer of a dragon boat , those Cl 27 and below are the paddlers . After the major retrenchment , you know how EM ‘s dragon boat look like ? Instead of typical 22 paddlers , we have only 10 paddlers doing the job meant for 22 pax . Instead of one drummer , we have 2-3 drummers beating the drum , worst still all at different rhyme ! Where do u think the boat will head to?
Seriously, we don’t need so many execs and 28/29s to churn paperwork and play internal politics …..the failed retrenchment exercise that brought the permanent damage is the failing of all these pple trying to preserve themselves … that is why the boat will sink .
So, I don’t why have self denial people in this forum still pinning hope on this company.
