I've only been here two months. I came here after being fired from my previous job for the d-mbest reason ever. I believe the real reason is the animosity of the manager looking for a way to get rid of me. Does it ever happen at Macy's that someone is fired for the smallest matter, or does there need to be a bigger reason for that?

You like in jersey, what do you expect? That state is so sleezy and the people have the worst attitude, like you owe them something. 🙄 come out west, where we are actually nice.
I’m currently being harassed in my Central Jersey location. Between having people that don’t belong in retail to begin with. To a store manager who makes it up as she goes along. If your not part of her clique your nobody. You have to always pick up for the clique and still get your job done.
I'm sure it differs in every store, but mine is in an at-will state and I have never seen this exercised, even when the employee desperately deserved to be fired. Everything has to be documented and go through HR leadership support. The only time people get fired quickly is if they do something real egregious like blatantly stealing. But even job abandonment, which used to be fairly straightforward, now goes through leadership support. But again, every store differs (unfairly because standards should be applied consistently which NEVER happens at Macy's).
Most states including NJ are At Will or Right to Work if I phrased it correctly. Unfortunately they can terminate at any time for pretty much any reason which I know is scary. I am third party support vendor and the same with my company. Common sense says they will keep you if you work hard and do at least a good job. But we know sometimes this doesn’t happen for whichever reason. I’ve seen several people come back and reapply to Macys. I was RIF a few years ago so highly doubtful I would come back. Would have to be a pretty good offer.
So you were fired before and now are worried that you will be let go again? Sounds like you need to look inward.
You are most likely an 'at will' employee and can be let go at any time
most states are at will which means they can fire you for anything at any time for no reason or one
Do you work in an union store? If not, they can fire you for anything.
