Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Why is SHELL stock a poor performer?

Shell stock is performing terribly in 2022 relative to peers, especially when compared to ExxonMobil or Chevron. Why is that? Those companies are on a tear, among best in S&P 500 YTD, and Shell stock is floundering even with historically high oil and gas prices.

Even BvB divested his stock. So did I. At this point it doesn't make sense to hold onto it until we start to see this new strategy take shape and produce money in renewables.

Shell (unlike XOM and CVX) has intentionally declared it no longer wishes to be an oil and gas company but rather renewable energy company which is a much lower value proposition for investors.

First Shell cut dividends by 2/3s and second Shell is going green which will take another fifty years to complete. When a company is transitioning like Shell into a different energy company all profits being made are going into wind energy and such. People are only invest in a company that is going to make them money
