Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

My hope...

I hold out hope that once the aging , useless VPs and SVPs that have been mismanaging the talented engineers that Q does miraculously manage to attract, causing them to inevitably quit in disgust, FINALLY age out and stay out of the way in their Rancho Santa Fe and Carmel Valley homes. Only THEN Qualcomm can hopefully FINALLY be run by good managers that have the company's best interests at heart, and not their own selfish interests or funneling Q resources back to their home countries. We all know who you are, and the sooner you are out, the sooner Qualcomm can REALLY flourish as the great company it once was and can be again.

Despite our differing view points, thank you old man. Without your contribution to the discussion what would we have except an echo chamber. Your comments are all posted here for everybody to see and decide for themselves. Old man is simply a way to mark your posts, in my mind. Nothing about actual age or knowledge or intelligence or whatever.

Good luck to you in life and journey ahead.

We may all be of age here. No sense in assuming or accusing? one to be older or younger than another. It is not germane to the discussion/topic. Imo.

Lyrics to end this on.
Wise men say
Only fools...

If this is Qualcomm’s young talent responding - I can see why Q has so many layoffs and moves in! Do you even know the history of Qualcomm? Qualcomm started off as a GPS company for big rigs 🚛…. Then I’m got into email…. All those business were pushed aside when CDMA was invented. And all the email folks and GPS people were let go. Does Qualcomm have an email division today?? Your answer come from pure ignorance. I can have a conversation with someone who doesn’t realize how d-mb they are… will make me an id--t also…. Good luck on your fantastic career, I can see you have a bright future

Your argument is flawed old man.
At best its self serving.

Let's say Q through some miracle or mistake were to have a new and amazing business line. We all know because of people like you that is not going to happen. But let's put that aside. Let's entertain that notion.

In that scenario...

You, old man, would be touting how awesome you are and the reason those were possible.

On the other hand...

Let's say Q did not have a new and amazing business line.

You, old man, would be here as you are now denigrating those people.

If you and your methods were so awe inspiring, why do you not take credit for your lack of ability to attract talent of equal or greater than yourself.

Alas, you old man are the problem.

As the poster of this thread said, his hope for you is already stated.

But do go on with the rambles of an old man that cannot inspire or surround himself with anything but donkey dust. For which nobody wishes to inhale.

Your bottom line is true. But your analysis regarding it and whether anybody is making $$$ for the company is asinine. Hence nobody engages with you. Nobody.

You seem to lack understanding of the argument. The bottom line is revenue and what you bring in. Qualcomm had a patent on Marisol and no one used it. There have been patents added to the wall that no one uses over the last 20 years…. The argument was - if you claim you are so great and adding value what invention or new business line have you invented to bring Qualcomm revenue? If one complains about old people who actually invented business lines that the younger generation is still living off of doesn’t make any sense! The next question is all these new engineers claim how wonderful and great they are - well, where are all these wonderful and new business lines being invented at Qualcomm? When will the new generation actually create a new product? It’s been 20 years and nothing!

Arguing about how good your patent is is like who$es fighting about their virtues. Most patents are dog cr-p and every patent attorney is trained to get one no matter how stupid your idea is. The hardest part about getting a patent is convincing someone to spend the money on getting one.

Patent Guy gets a text from home:

Honey, please stay at work as long as you need to, staring at that patent wall you adore so much. The pool boy isn't don't cleaning the "pool" yet. I mean, pool boys and postal man, neighbor and friends.

Patent Guy justifies this:
I bet she didn't show you the respect you you deserve.

Or:
If you can't identify the problem.
Grab a mirror.

Either way:
Don't fret. You always got that patent to prove you're right about eveything! And we shall all stand in unwavering homage.

xoxo

The patents on the wall allow people like you to have a job and to actually think they are good at their jobs. For 20 years Qualcomm has hired 2nd rate engineers that are unable to remove their heads from where the sun don’t shine. You should feel privileged that old men allow you to make a living. If you were grateful you would keep your mouth shut and show respect but I your not smart enough to comprehend what o just educated you with

@ivs,

I have patents. You won't find me speaking like you.

Remember, whatever you are there is always somebody bigger and better. And likely more humble and accomplished.

The way you speak, seems to be from a place of significant ignorance. Did you use your patents to change the world? How many under privileged or needy children have you helped. What is your legacy. What have you used your worldly wisdom to accomplish. The posts and tone here are reflective of that? (Cringe)

How do you want to be seen and heard.

Somebody calls you butter and you respond on kind. Why. Who cares. Rise above it. Be the bigger man you say you are Mr. Patent guy.

Lol! It’s true that todays generation has a hard time taking direction. It’s also true that todays generation wants to be praised for doing the job they were hired to do. I was a manager but went back to being an SME due to not understanding todays generation. It’s just easier working within engineering than people…. Especially when people feel so privileged

By butter I mean people who have patents on the wall and actually bring in revenue for the company! All these young engineers have created cr-p! Still waiting for these young world renown engineers to actually make something and stop living off of old men’s inventions. You sound like you come from the millennium generation that got a trophy 🏆 for coming in last place! In real life you don’t get a trophy for just showing up! Are you asking for a raised and to be praised today bc you went to work and didn’t create anything?

I think the person who put this post up was visiting the weed dispensary. Q is following its business model to a “T”! These good engineers you speak of haven’t made a new product in 20 yearS! The old management you speak of is Qualcomm’s bread and butter! You can trying to push out the only reason why Qualcomm has been profitable? Get off the weed!
