Thread regarding Scientific Games Corp. layoffs

It's a balancing act

Not all who were let go were underperformers: For every older employee let go for legit reasons there is a younger employee let go to balance-out the age to protect against age-discrimination lawsuits, similarly if there were too many young inexperienced people let go, the company needs to pick random older employees so as not to look like they are discriminating against age. Other categories exist too, not just age. For example if there are too many white people let go, then the company needs to pick random non-white people to let go. If too many women were let go then they need to pick random men to let go.

This is 100 percent correct and it's why nobody can consider himself or herself safe. The company has to be careful not to bring on either a single or a class action suit regarding layoffs, and as a result, they have to lay off some people they otherwise would not want to remove - just to balance the numbers. It sucks, but that's the reality. No matter how good you are, you can be affected because they need more younger/older/men/women/white/PoC/etc. employees gone.

I don't see them doing any layoffs, especially at the VP level as someone else stated above that's probably where they need to start. A low level workers are just trying to survive.

To the OP…. You are 100% correct on the company strategy. Sad how these executive sl--e are pulling this sh11t off. Their bad decisions are coming home to roost. This company is on the ropes and they know it. Their silly rebranding is just a shiny object to take the focus off their stupidity and mis-management.

How can they do a layoff if they have active job openings?

Better be at least 20%. Or you worthless vp’s can write your own code.

Are you kidding me? They can’t possibly lay off any more employees. We are already ki----g ourselves trying to keep up. Most engineers are waiting for the supposed competitive salary adjustment coming up (supposed). Been promised that over the years and it never happened. This time management is in a pickle. Most current emps can find much greener pastures elsewhere and they are pursuing those rightfully compensated jobs. We are just waiting for this final announcement from management. One thing for sure——it’s gonna be interesting watching how it all folds out

Of course it’s “in the works”. Execs must make better numbers every quarter in order to get their bonus/chicklets. Fyi, Chicklets=stock options. Light and wonder. Hahahaha
