So many excellent employees are treated like children by managers who have no idea how to do their jobs and are projecting their shortcomings on everybody around them. They are nothing but bullies who contribute nothing but somehow manage to keep their jobs. Getting rid of them wouldn't affect the company at all but they are sadly always safe.

It's not management in general. Many Direct managers I've had have been amazing. The problem is largely with upper management. Some of them have no logic processing ability and are quite bone-headed. It really took some significant, blatant, and downright dangerous for my career pushing to get upper managers to see that there was a major problem they had been ignoring for a looooong time.
Managers at Citrix almost never make mistakes. Resources sometimes have trouble visualizing the long term strategy.
