I am one of the 30,000+ cast members that was laid-off December 2020. Crushing! I had only been in my position for a couple of years, an entry-level position in my dream field, and I loved every minute of my work day and team members. The current rumor is that the low-to-average-performing employees were let go. IS THIS TRUE? (I was certain I was doing a good job, if not performing at a excellent level in many areas.) If this is not true, it would great if team leaders, that might think of us at times, would touch base, maybe text, call, message, or invite us for coffee to see how things are going in our careers. I miss so many of you, and though I am blessed to keep in touch with many of my co-workers, this is not the case with many of my leaders and senior managers that I truly looked up to during my time with Disney. Would love to hear from you!

I don't believe "low to average performing" CMs is true. Some cases its where a manager, for instance, was probably high on the pay scale and/or not part of a protected union.
There are so many job openings on both coasts, and plenty more to come in Orlando.
Since Disney is having a fairly difficult time with hiring "quality people," this suggestion of reaching out to past cast members is a great idea. I know I would love for some of my old team members to have the opportunity to come back to Disney. They have the experience with Disney, are fabulous at what they do and are wonderful folks! (About your question, did Disney lay off the low-performing employees? Maybe some, but on my team, that was not the case. It was the associates at the bottom of the totem pole or mid-level managers. Hope you found a great job!)
