Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

One of the most toxic work environments

Lowe’s is one of the most toxic work environments that I have ever been in, and the way the managers turn on you is part of it. The sheer amount of negativity, threats, and intimidation from the asm staff is what finally drove me out after a long career with the company. It was smothering and sucking the life out of me. I finally woke up and realized, “ They obviously don’t value me anymore. Why should I put up with this kind of environment?” I turned in my letter of resignation to the store manager and politely walked out. I miss the comradery that I had with some of employees but that’s it. I now work for a small business where everyone is like family and all kinds of perks—paid time off whenever I want, an easy-going/comfortable work environment, mon-fri 830-5 with an occasional saturday, no nights or sundays, no corporate metrics to constantly be beat in the head about, and great relationships with management/ownership.

@nlo+1fzlCfSO says it perfectly.

I have to agree. Lowe’s atmosphere has truly become toxic. I’ve never seen morale this bad in my store. People routinely disappear from their jobs without so much as a comment. They just don’t care enough about the place to bother. And I’m not just talking about new employees. I had a specialist walk out last week. He’d work for the store for about six years, but he had no help, they cut the part timers to 10 or less hours per week and he apparently had just had enough. I can’t blame him.

The only thing that keeps a lot of people in my store is the fact that the area I live in is practically all retail jobs. If they had any other choice, they would ALL quit. But since you’re only going to work for another retail nightmare, some stay just because it isn’t worth the effort. Sadly, this is also the reason that most people move away from this area.

Leave the lowes cult now. Word on the street is hours will be whittled down to nothing permanently. 100 days of he-l? They don't care..the he-l will be no hours given. Corporate doesn't care about customer svc anymore. They know the sheep will keep buying. It's a no win situation..get out now before they push you out.
