Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

We need some relief

I'm constantly overworked and expected to be in three places at once. I understand it's hard to hire people but the fact that you can't find good employees doesn't mean you can overload the rest of us with work until we drop of exhaustion. Find a different solution. There are plenty of managers who do nothing but bark out orders and hide from everybody the rest of the day. Why aren't they helping more? If it continues like this, those of us who're still here will leave, and then what?

Hy-Vee needs to step up and take care of existing employees before they worry about hiring more people. It would stop the mass exodus of experienced workers if they would offer a competitive wage and stop cutting hours to the bare bone. I never have been able to wrap my head around that particular oddity. It's not like new hires save them money since a lot of them come in at a higher hourly wage than long time employees. Anyway, yeah, I'm one who finally jumped ship after the last round of hours cuts. Sorry but I can't pay bills on 24 hours per pay period.

I left last week....was with hyvee for 27 years, and just simply couldn't handle it anymore. It was like a giant boulder lifted off my shoulders when I walked out. And guses what....was employed 48 hours later at 12 % higher that the hourly rate I left...and in 30 days, will have much better health and other benefits
