Asking for volunteers for help in Support

An email went out in the org asking for others to assist voluntarily in the Support org in the month of March because headcount is so low over at Citrix.
It also claims over 160+ positions are waiting to be filled.

The email was sent out by a VP in the support group. This is why not everyone got the email. I bet eventually they will do Citrix All lol

It's absolutely ridiculous idea and request. The problem is they literally drove the support engineers and escalation engineers away by treating them horribly by not hiring and making the support people have to have more and more and more cases. I was screaming at them for 2 years about it! They were oblivious until everyone started walking out.

Email is real. The deadline was Friday March 4th to volunteer.
All employees in Field services, Technical support and Consulting got the email.
Anyone know if anyone volunteered?

The email is real. Likely sent to management level only and must are not passing the request down.

Have not seen or heard anything about this internally. Is there a group of employees just sitting around with nothing to do? Maybe some just stop what they are doing and tell their managers they plan to volunteer their time to the support org instead? Perhaps this post is complete BS? smh

HAHAHA The email said they are having issues with hiring but they don't mention that they are sooo below market with their offers. Why would anyone want to take a job that pays 40K less than market avg. Even the recruiter told me its the biggest pain point. They even said sorry to me. Citrix needs to wake up and pay up but for me its too late I split.

163 spots to back fill when they need to do 300 not only to backfill but to catch up because if they are trying to backfill then support will still be understaffed. We asked for help when we had the head count and we were told no the reports show we don't need the head count. We lost faith that upper management would care for us. Now they want to pretend they care top make sure we don't keep leaving but hey ELT and VPs you need to act not just speak we wanted action so pay up or shut up. Can't sell a company with out any workers lol.

Well none of this is my problem any more. Have a good one everyone I am out!

Let's see what's happens after the rsu's vest in April. I'd imagine more people will leave.
I agree 30 days is not enough time and the time it takes to hire and train new engineers can be 6 months. No way people can hang on waiting for that especially after a sh---y raise that doesn't even cover inflation.
I'm interviewing right now, so hoping to hand my notice ASAP.
They knew 2 years ago we were understaffed. They chose to ignore it.
Now look at it sh-t show we're in.

Yeah, they are looking for people to volunteer 30 days. Now lets think about that for a moment. In 30 days no one would be able to learn the processes and skills necessary for support. And those that may have the experience (and moved out to other areas) are unlikely to have time to help for 2-3 months as everyone is understaff. Then hiring 160 people, finding them, interviews, training, etc will take at least 6 months.

Their lack of retention strategy has put the company at risk. Was it worth to cut the bonuses back? The miserable anual raise? This has a snow ball effect… we have not seen the peak of resignations yet. I think April/May will be really bad.

No one else has time to volunteer anywhere we are all doing way too much already. I’m probably 1-2 weeks from resigning. Working through two interview processes now.

I could see the meddling from Elliot/Vista and ELT seriously, seriously backfiring here.
It’s not the 1980s anymore, COVID has changed everything and people have options right now. Lots of them.

Sounds like leaderships problem. Why should anyone volunteer to fix the mess they created?
