Apparently the location might be closing given that the store is selling fixtures?

Yes, if you go to that URL, you will find four sheet sets (as well as some other things that aren't sheet sets, such as pillowcase sets). However, none of them are available in queen size.
This is a pretty basic thing not to be selling, if you're even pretending to still be a general full-line department store.

I went to Kmart.com, for bed sheets, filtered it to "Kmart only", and I found a few:
https://www.kmart.com/home-bed-bath-bedding-sheets/b-1348487214?kmartTab=true&excludeMarketplace=true
Now would I shop there? H3ll no! But the items are there for online purchase for some boomer who is still nostalgic for Kmart.
@dpbi+1f7zKoo8 Who is ordering from them? Admittedly not many. But some people do have SYW points they need to use on something. And I was d-mb enough to buy a Sears weedwacker many Years ago, which conked out during warranty. After dealing with about 17 outsourced agents (who couldn't understand English, and kept transferring me to the next one), they finally agreed to return my Loot in the form of a Sears.com E-Gift Card, so I really had no choice, but to buy SOMETHING from Sears or Kmart.com, just to avail of my Gift Certificate, as I have no stores of either brand within 500 miles of me. So we just ended up buying some stuff for the house, and I noticed that the packages were addressed from the Kmart in Marshall MI, and also some of the former CA Kmarts (I think they were from Grass Valley & Big Bear Lake, but I don't remember).
Of course those stores are long since closed now, so they must be using the remaining 4 ones as fulfillment centers (at least stateside.....I don't Know if they use a similar arrangement in the territories, but it's quite possible they do).
Sold and fulfilled by kmart.com? I wasn't able to find much but I'm not real good with the internets.
I challenge you all: try to order a queen-sized sheet set from Kmart online. Specify "Kmart only" to exclude all of the dodgy third-party sellers. You won't find any.
Who exactly is still ordering from Kmart online when they could instead order from Target, Walmart, or Amazon?
@caou Online fulfillment centers? You first have to have merchandise to stock the online fulfillment centers and neither Sears nor Kmart has any merchandise to speak of.
How many online fulfillment centers does kmart,com operate, does anyone know? Are they all colocated with Kmart retail locations?
Has Sears converted any retail space to fulfillment centers?
They are selling fixtures to make space for the online fulfillment center to fulfill orders for Kmart.com
BackQ? Q? Why add a Q?
We. need more comments. Just make some news up and stand backQ
@1ayt+1f7zKoo8 Not at all. No rumor has worked. The only true post was this: @1rbx+1f7zKoo8.
OP was wrong. OP claimed that a fixture sale IS happening (as opposed to WAS happening, past tense). It is NOT currently happening, and this store is not currently closing. This store is NOT closing, so OP should not have made his post unless there is some proof included.
Jesus I seen flea markets in better condition.
And also, on one of the 2 USVI's (I forgot which island), 2 Kmarts are 2 miles apart. And on the other island, the 2 Kmarts are only 8 miles apart. They must really like Kmart there. Just odd that USVI gets 4 Times as many Kmarts, as Guam (which is the most Profitable location).
@3nzr+1f7zKoo8 That is a good question, especially in the case of Puerto Rico. No reason to have both of those open there, as they share a parking lot! But keep in mind, that the Sears and Kmarts in Miami are 13 mile apart, and mapquest lists it as a 30 Minute drive, so they aren't exactly next door to each other. Just a complete wild guess on my part, but perhaps, the Miami Kmart is a distribution center for Kmart.com orders, and the Miami Sears is a center for Sears.com orders? Because I'm guessing that while there might be some overlap between the 2 brands, there must be some product that is unique to only 1 brand, so they need 1 of each brand open, for distribution. Again, just a guess.
That makes some sense, but I still have to wonder why Transformco keeps both a Kmart and a Sears open in Miami. (And also in San Juan, where the two stores are just a few hundred feet from each other.)
This will possibly get downvoted, but I don't think Miami Kmart will close, at least not soon. I Know what you're thinking: "Hey man, are you crazy? Miami Kmart is next door to WM/Target, so of course they will close!!!"
- And normally, you would be right. But Miami Kmart is unique, in that it primarily exists as a distribution center for online orders. Try it out.......my wife and I recently ordered some comforters and other stuff from Kmart.com (hey, it's nuts, but we had SYW points).......look at the return address, on the package, after the mailman drops it off. It will likely show Miami Kmart.
So the building is mainly being used as a distribution center for online orders. The actual operating store, is just secondary (and would likely have long ago closed, if not for the online operation being run out of that building).
** The remodel, was done, simply to free up Space, that they could potentially lease out to other stores, to add even more Revenue. Think about it.....if they wanted to close the store, they would have just.......um......closed the store, right? Eddie closed 1000's of stores. But he didn't close this one, he just remodeled (downsized) it. The idea being, that he could continue the online distribution from there, while running a nominal (and insignificant) storefront, while also leasing out the part of the building they didn't need. Now, he could always change his mind and just close the whole thing, but it is more likely, that he keeps this going, 95% as a distribution center, and 5% as a nominal "store".
@1gjv+1f7zKoo8 - I don't think nowon noes.
Do anywon have the date this store closing for my list?
To the poster below as I type this but also one of the posters below that should someone else post before I press submit;
So what you're saying is, the system works. A rumor was posted and over a few hours a counter to the rumor was published. FWIW - the post about how half the store fixtures were sold... also a rumor. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
@1rbx+1f7zKoo8 Finally a sensible post. Thank you for that informative post. You clearly explained the reason for this "fixture sale", and it has NOTHING to do with a store closing.
Try harder OP.
They were actually holding a fixture sale for leftover fixtures from when they had the “remodel” (closing off half the store because they literally have no merchandise to fill the shelves). They were still selling fixtures as of the beginning of December. This had nothing to do with a store closure. Just a sad attempt at making a sale with what little they actually have to sell.
Here is a link to a Reddit thread on the store’s fixture sale. They have a picture of a sign on the front door that states fixtures are for sale.
https://www.reddit.com/r/kmart/comments/recymw/kmart_in_kendale_lakes_fl_fixtures_for_sale_but/
News flash, they're ALL closing in the near future!
