Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Workers? Gone. Managers? Still here.

I think Enbridge underestimate how expensive all those managers really are.
Do we really need all those managers? I think most of them are totally unnecessary. People are constantly leaving here and it seems to me that at some point there will be more managers than workers.

Shawn Artt in Waterloo is the cornerstone of the company. I’d be lost without him.

Enbridge has laid off a greater percentage of leaders than of front line staff. It started when the sickle swept through all the "senior" roles.

Most skilled white collar jobs at Enbridge have highly desirable transferable skills. Project management, project coordination, engineering, you name it, there is big demand in other industries that aren't as doomed as oil and gas.

These industries know they have a chance to steal talent from dying oil and gas, they're not pulling punches with pay and benefits. If you are unaware of the wage growth happening as we speak, you're probably underpaid.

Who in the midstream sector is progressive, though? It's old school. Maybe TC? Pembina is arguably the worst, IPL and Plains not far behind.

Enbridge is going to have difficulty attracting and retaining talent. Their 'industry leading pay' is less competitive by the day.

Their anemic WFH options will do nothing to retain or attract either, when competitors offer much more flexibility.

Soon to be stuck with 1:1 manager to skilled worker ratio. I've got the popcorn ready. If ENB doesn't adapt quickly they will be left in the dust.
