Don't let the title fool you. I was extremely tempted at taking the job. It came down to the reality of the IT world, being a white male in 50s. Only way I was going to take the job was a guaranteed 10 years of work. They wouldn't do it but kept trying to offer higher salary instead. Not a bad thing, but nothing good comes from it in my demographic.
Unfortunately, with all acquisitions come major cost cutting. Those cost cuts come at the older workers. Don't kid yourself. I know there will be reductions and my demographic is #1 in that list. That is why I wanted a guaranteed number of years of service under contract.
