Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

I worked so hard to get where I am and now I'm not sure it was worth it

I know my days here are numbered. I am too old and earn too much to survive what's coming. The fact that I survived this long is shocking in itself, considering how many of my former coworkers who share my age/years with the company have already been discarded like they never existed. I just have to wonder if all the overtime, all the weekends I worked instead of spending them with my family were worth it. And I'm finding that the answer is no.

To the person who started this thread, just recognize that you can't change the past but what you do today, and the days that follow, is something that you can impact.

Choose wisely, going forward.

That said, age discrimination in America is a huge problem. So, if you want to work at another employer, you may be confronted with age bias during your search. Don't give up hope. I wish you good luck, whatever you decide to do next.

When I was a new tech director at citrix i was surrounded by a bloat of 15 - 20 year employees who walked around like they owned the place. arrogant as ever and not doing much other than schmoozing and sh*tting on new people who had fresh ideas and who were driven. we were just seen as a threat.

Now that I look at linkedin and see that many of these folks were terminated over the course of several layoffs going back to 12/2020.... schadenfreude, especially because many of them are still unemployed.

Donna Kimmel.... FML... At least pre-COVID, that woman had a Citrix paid apartment in the Ft Lauderdale area (so she did not have to re-locate) and Citrix paid for her travel to and from where she actually lived.

And for what? Was she some kind of HR savant? Obviously not.

I slacked off for years and then took a package. Now I make more at a better place.

Its been obvious for the past 3-4 years, lets say post Templeton time, that the new set of ELT members were there strictly for personal enrichment and nothing else (perhaps DH excepted). They did not care for the extra work or growth prospects of the company- it was about their take from the till. What else explains the huge pay packages of people like Mark Schmitz, PJ, Joe Kim, Donna Kimmel and Tim, for the poor long-term results, especially during the pandemic when Citrix should have zoomed like Zoom! If all your time is going into RedBull racing but not driving real value to customers under market tumult, this crash was your doing, starting a long long time ago.

Same here. I gave Citrix so much of my weekends and holidays.

Kind of upswtting that upper management gets their PRSUs vested at 200% while those of us who did the work have to wait it out
