Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

Finally!

I've been trying to leave for the past year but the offers I was getting all left a lot to be desired. I finally found a position that pays 10 percent more and has better benefits, plus the culture (from what I can see) seems to be much better. I know this might be a mistake but I have to try. Sungard has not been a good place to work for several years and I don't think things are likely to improve. Goodbye and good luck!

It is sad times.. From SKO that were held in hotels, with everyone getting together, to now 4hr virtual for company kick off and 2hr for regional SKO. Says it all. Next year even fewer people or maybe no one!!

@5xrd Wait... so they didn't do an actual, in-person, SKO this time? I'm shocked and a little bit impressed, if so. "Someone" is finally showing some sense of responsibility.

Red lobster would be a step up from the all virtual kickoff that was held. Talk about a snooze fest..

@5zjr I've been wondering that, myself. It's more likely somewhere costly enough to open a new Red Lobster location if you wanted.

We had to spend the cash on a new quoting system that will do nothing to increase revenue.

Just set it up to charge 2x-3x list by default, so nobody has to do it manually.

I wish this company would man up and say, yeah 2021 sucked. There will be no bonuses this year. In addition there will be no merit increase this year either. We know inflation was 7% and you effectively taking a pay CUT to keep working here. But hey, at least we are giving it to you straight this time. We had to spend the cash on a new quoting system that will do nothing to increase revenue. Enjoy!

@4qsd

Anyone know if raises are coming?

Hey buddy, how you gonna get a raise without a review? Why do you think that email went out about 'no review process this year'? That was a convoluted way of telling you you're not getting a raise. I guess it worked, you're not the first person to ask that question.

Bad move. Things are turning around at SunGard. Just the other day we landed a huge tape based recovery / x86 deal that was discounted 98%.. so year things are turning around.

Congratulations! I doubt you will find this to be a mistake. It is much better to build on your career with an employer that has a more stable future. Good luck to you!

Good for you! As long as the culture doesn't support half-a$$ solutions and band-aids over bullet wounds you should do just fine.

Congrats, and best of luck!
I seriously doubt you'll find it was a mistake, in the end.
I was never so happy to be gone from an organization in my entire working life.
