Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Is that true?

It took me a long time to decide to leave because I have been in this company for too long and it will be very unusual for me to work outside this industry. What interests me is is it true that there are plenty of those who had previously left but got much better working conditions, including better pay, after returning to Oxy?

I would hire certain legacy Oxy back. Some of those long time Oxy employees were basically told to take the VSP, or risk being laid off down the road with a much less package. I know good employees that left under those circumstances. If those guys want to come back I would bring them back in a second. If there were any legacy APC that happened to they should be welcomed back as well. All others I hope enjoyed their payoff and ended up be better off financially.

Does anyone know the policy about coming back? How long after you leave are you allowed to be hired again assuming you left in good standing?

If you leave, don’t come back.

As the last post suggests you should leave in a professional way. Do realize that as soon as you are out the door some of the very meanest employees will start talking trash about you to build themselves up. These are the same people who used to smile at you and slap you on the back as they lied to you. Have fun with the best and worst of the human race in you future companies.

As long as you leave in good standing, leave your projects well documented and offer hand off to someone with plenty of time, yes. If you are a good performer you may even get a counter offer. But I suggest you leave after the bonuses and cash on LTI. If you have a family or location reason, then you can come back easily. Best of luck

It can happen depending on market conditions when the person returns.
