I've said this before and I'll say it again. I know it might be tempting to quit right now just to avoid the whole mess but that'd be doing them a major favor. They'll have to give some kind of severance to those they cut. It might not be the usual, but it'll be something. Why not wait and make them pay you to leave instead of just walking away?

Hey guys yes listen to the guy who is not ELT. Stay and enjoy the hardships thats coming your way. Oh and if you are in support keep watching your friends and coworkers leave us for other places like, amazon, Microsoft and Zscaller! Thse places will pay more and offer signing bonuses you will not get from us as we will continue to cut costs... I mean ELT will do that.
The job market is hot right now. It won't be in the coming Biden stagflation.
Get a new job first. Organize your personal files. Then double dip a few weeks remotely before resigning. Or give max a one week notice on a Monday afternoon.
HR will cold heartedly axe you and immediately shut your network access off... so a week notice and protecting yourself is beyond fair.
Two weeks max if your manager is honorable.
If we fall under TIBCO, we fall under the TIBCO severance package offers. And that’s 1 week per year @ company. There’s no point In waiting. GTFO now.
Start searching now. If you find the role, exit left without looking back. If you are going to wait for severance to give you time to search later, you will be severely disappointed.
Most of the 2021 November cohort has landed good jobs already, in California and Bangalore with serious bumps in packages. If you are not finding something, redo your approach. And now, you don't even have to explain why you are leaving!
Quit... start your own business or startup, and never again work for others.
The market is hot, the increase in pay and better work environment is 10x better than any severance you think you'll get. If you're enjoying your work at Citrix then stay, but those who are unhappy and waiting for a goodbye kiss need to move on already. You do realize they are winning when you wait like this? You are the one being punished.
DK posting this? LOL Don't quit?
1/2 of the execs quit on Citrix this past year and reason why the company is going PE. They knew Citrix would not survive...
Come on now....You have ELT posting across Social Media saying this is great news... Of course it is.... Most of them will make out with $$$$.
Reduction coming soon as with any company taking this PE route. So many great employees impacted from the layoffs in 2021. Expecting to see more in the coming months ahead. Just do yourself a favor. Start to look. Be safe. Take care of the #1 priority - You!
While true, since, like you hint at, the severance may not be much and finding another job may take time the decision may not be that easy. So I would say, start looking NOW while not quitting and only AFTER an offer is available THEN consider quitting. If in the meantime some severance is offered then yes take it.
DISCLOSURE: I no longer work at Citrix - I was laid off in late 2017 and we got a great severance so my situation is different.
It is a risk to wait for a package. The good packages are probably going to get cut significantly. This is text book item when private entities take over. Personally, if you have an opportunity for another job, take it.
Once PE takes over, the first step is to reduce cost... cut cut cut. Then its going to be a challenging year as the ones left work to cover the gaps. In 2 years time, things may be back to normal... then you can come back.
