Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Pension

If anyone joined after 2012 (or 2011 - not sure), you dont have a good pension and no health coverage post retirement in the US. To compensate the salary may be slightly higher. But if you work for an "old timer", they may not understand the loss in benefit and compare you to their own salary and be jealous. This causes friction.

So? Not my issue, not my worry, not my concern; I eat cake.

Jealous? What is the reason for this? Not by a long shot. I mostly felt terrible for younger gen who work for significantly less benefit , and no, your pay isn't that great compared to what you have to go without.
