Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Chevron announced today it is delaying return to office. What say you, Shell?

Shell prides itself on safety, but Chevron has proven it cares more about its employees than Shell does.

I don't have anything against going into the office, but my manager wants his team to go into a meeting room for our monthly staff meeting. He likes to see his team "all together"...in fact, we are REQUIRED to attend. If they are not going to let us work from home until the omincron peak is over in late January, they should at least ban the use of the meeting rooms until the peak is over.

I'll just fake an illness and call in sick on our stazff meeting days because I am not going to get COVID just because my boss wants to see his whole team in person altogether.

Why is the US making its employees go in the office while NL and London have been told to stay at home?

The US IMT Team just sent out a CorpComm to all Shell US employees telling us that, effective immediately, we need to start social distancing and wearing masks indoors EVEN IF WE ARE FULLY VACCINATED.

So what's the purpose of going into the office now? Meeting rooms do not facilitate social distancing for more than 3 people. You can't go have a private coffee chat at Starbucks in the cafeteria with a co-worker since you have to speak loud enough so that he/she can hear you from 6 feet away.

"Gosh darn it though, Shell is open for business unlike our competitors!"

Sounds like you have a **** line manager. My TL has maintained that we don’t have to come in until we feel comfortable to do so.

Surely there will be COVID transmission in the open office petri-dish at Woodcreek. But if you get sick or pass it on to your family, it would be difficult to prove you picked it up at the office. HSSE doesn't mean much to your boss if it's not recordable.

Leadership wants us back in the office January 3rd, and they aren’t budging on delaying it. 😒

No return to office return set in Canada, but Scotford will have a vaccine mandate starting January 4th. either provide your vaccine status for normal entry or a negative covid test every 72 hours. Failure to do so will result in your access to site being revoked. The testing will be free on site until March 4th.

Shell is a poser. Shell doesn't care but will bend to peer pressure We are animals in the eyes of our Uk and Dutch masters. Your manager lacks judgment, experience and competence like most managers here.
