Job referrals….a joke

This has happened 4 times now.

A job is posted, you submit a qualified referral for it and upload the resume. HR reaches out to the candidate and tell them that “the position they were referred for no longer exists but here’s a new position submit for that one”.

Upon looking at this “new” position, its the same job post with the same hiring manager for the same location. The ole HR switcharoo was to keep from having to pay you the referral fee as the new job posting has a new jobID number. I’ve gone as far as to screenshot the job posting to compare. They are exactly the same with the only difference is the jobIDs.

I should not be surprised though. Gotta do something to recoup all those fines and still ensure that upper mgmt still maintain their high salaries.

What many companies don’t realize is that there’s a network of employees who trade such experiences. Blogs, forum posts and email DL’s. These potential candidates black list companies on job submissions. I’m on such a email DL now discussing detailing how a well established firewall company has ghosted interviewers. The feedback from the recipients of the email are:
“Keep you chin up .My company is looking, give me your res”
“Glad to know this, I’ll just add them to my list of “companies to ignore”
“Glad to know this as I was thinking about applying for a position here”

It’s not just the companies that have all the power its the employees and job seekers.
These job seekers wield a lot of influence, more than what you’d think. When it gets out there to NOT give a company a thought on employment, that has a huge impact when the company can’t attract top talent.

I’ve referred top notch skilled people that I know. I can’t relate from where or to what group as that’d narrow down what group I’m in and I wish to remain anonymous, but these would easily be hard core contributors that were sorely needed. Interviews took place…..aaaannndddd………….nothing. No response, no yes or no, nothing.

It really hurts your own credibility when the referred person gets no response whatsoever.

Happened too often for me to even consider referring anyone else. Didn't help my work ethnic or attitude either.
