Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

How to succeed at SGAS

Don't bother working hard. There's no need. All you have to do is make sure to compliment your boss each day on how great they are, how their ideas are amazing, and how that PowerPoint presentation they made was captivating. That's it. Each time you get promoted, apply the same thing to the next boss, sit back, and enjoy the benefits. Working hard means nothing here anymore. Bu-t kissing means everything.

About morale. Being infuriated at the state of things implies you care. Even worse than being upset is apathy. I see a lot of apathy from longtimers. It's not across the board but it's evident.

They probably believe they have a guaranteed jackpot coming. That could be true, but the closer we get to the end, the higher the chances of getting nothing, I'd say.

I'm convinced the remaining people have Stockholm Syndrome.

As you can imagine, moral is nonexistent. I had 7 coworkers, now it's just me and it's been that way for a long time. Imagine coming into an empty facility on a daily basis, not just because of the pandemic but because of all the cuts taking place on the constant. Cavernous facility that you only hear your own echo talking back to you...lol...kidding but not so far from the truth. I know our days are numbered - I think this year may very well be the last for Sungard.

Morale - Why would they want morale? It's been broken up into different BU's so it can be
sold off, simple as that. No one wanted it as a whole unit!

How is the morale between employees?

Not so great, it's wonderous what a no-direction management policy will accomplish.

The only modification I would make to your statement above is by substituting the word “succeed” and instead replacing it with “Survive”. Unfortunately and for the most part where there are exceptions here and there, the truly devoted and few remaining are living off of survival instincts. And it’s unfortunately a quarter by quarter survival mode of work life. Success and promotion as I see it today is all a smoke screen if you want to be realistic about the state of survival there. It’s a tough pill to swallow and not for the faint of heart. All the remaining good people that are left, want to wish you much success while you are still there and may you only leave under your terms.
