Thread regarding Sears layoffs

I'm calling it now

Sears will not only survive 2022, but it'll also live to see 2025 at least. Five years ago I was betting it would be gone within a month or a year at the most, but it's still standing. Now it seems that while it might be stripped to bare bones, it'll be around to haunt us for many more years. Mark my words.

Don’t bump old threads. And HQ being sold means nothing as many companies are moving employees to work at home formats.

Given that the HQ is being sold off, it'd be a miracle if Sears sees the end of 2023.

Since his kids hate him, Sears is basically his legacy.

Not likely. But with such a high level of retail weirdness I wouldn't bet my own money against it.

It won't haunt many; with what's left, most of us will never even come across another Sears/Kmart again. (not that there's any reason anyone would want to anymore)

If they are still around years from now, they will definitely exist in the future.

Ya, Sears.com will possibly still be around then. But not full line Sears stores.

Yep, as mentioned below, Sears Hometowns and probably Guam/USVI Kmarts. Possibly the 1 Kmart they have left in PR might stay open too.

If it's still around three years from now, I bet it will consist solely of Hometown stores.
