Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

BLE or UTU.

Which union is more worthless? In San Antonio we pay union dues for worthless union representation. All they are good for is laying off union on the weekends and holidays.

Why don’t all you whiney-a-s millennial crybabies quit and go to work for non-union companies or a scab-a-s shortline. You’ll be waaaay happier. And make less money and have fewer benefits. And you won’t have to pay union dues.

I text Joel (local chairman) and Bill (president) of UTU in San Antonio. No response to my calls or texts. We pay union dues for nothing in return.

IBEW is worthless. They closed our shop, not a peep from IBEW. Fifty jobs gone. Crickets. Then later, the one time in 20 years that I needed them to fight for my rights as a worker against the company they take the companies side. Worthless. IBEW can suck eggs!

IBEW needs to be ran outside the railroad system, same for the boilermakers.

We have our own local union halls, they need to be dispatching people and negotiating with the halls.

The going rate for a ibew journeyman commercial electrician. In my area is about $54 per hour plus another $24 in benefits.

Don’t forget local chairmen get to move their vacation wherever they want. I paid 1500 dollars now dues this year yet again for nothing. At least not a pay raise. Oh well at the rate we’re going that job with weekends off as a janitor is looking better all the time.

My IBEW dues recently went up, but my pay hasn't since 2019. I wish the union looked out for its members as well as it looks out for itself.

They're affiliated with a railroad. If ANY union can't or won't represent the people that are paying them to do so, then they're all useless.
