Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Leaving before retirement

I’m in a big dilemma right now so I’d love to hear other opinions: how far until retirement do you think it’s worth staying here?

I got a new offer that I would gladly accept, but on the other hand, I’m not that far from retirement so I don’t know how smart it is to start now from the beginning somewhere else.

I’d take the new lease on life. Run and don’t look back. No loyalty here. Co wants the low cost kids. Experience means nothing to the HR hacks. A lot of great knowledge has walked out these doors.

Run rudolf the red nose rain deer. Run as fast as you can. Schenectady will have massive cuts for 66 and 273. There are rumbles and small rumors of hiring going to happen. The last time those rumors came about I got laid off again. So I say run! I am after this round of cuts! This place is a joke full of cry babies

How many years do you have with the company? Are you hourly or salary?

If your in your early 60’s you may want to wait it out for the first quarter of next year. You never know if they may have an early out. Seems to be popular time that it can happen. Good Luck.

Request for early retirement or VJE. I did that. Unless your group is in layoff mode, you may not get ant incentive payment [like quitting].
