Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Switching to Apple

Hi everybody. After working 10+ years for Q, I am thinking this is probably good time to jump the boat. Can you please comment if it is a good move (to go to the fruit company), considering both compensation and working environment?

I would not go to Apple. Unethical company and it's already too late. The Q has a good outlook. The extra pay for the bay area isn't worth it unless you are just in it for the money. I also heard their work environment is pretty hostile.

ICT5 at Apple is equivalent to Principal and Director pay at Qualcomm.

Qualcomm underpays engineers because they are purposely kept ignorant and low skilled. levels.fyi and learn proper software skills.

It is kind of late to move to apple, all the good positions are already taken. The team is huge, expect to be just another cog in the wheel there.. they also have a unusally large concentration of abarasive/opionated, but argueably talented folks who will ramrod their decisions. it is not really pleasent, if you dont have thick skin..

Though it is apple, it is still intel built team and management structure.. the tasks are randomly split among lot of team members in different geographies, and it is usually meeting he-l... Will take 3 months to do something, what can be done in Q in about a month..

Levels also dont line up with Q.. check on other website like blind, to ensure you are getting a step up, and not a lateral move

That said if you worked 10+ years in Q, good to move out anyway and get some different experiences, rather than being boxed in into a role in Q, where career growth in future may stall..

Only losers from Q want to move.
