Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Don’t try to think differently here

Yesterday we had a situation that made me remember my former colleague and friend, who was one of the most talented experts at his job that I know. At TD, he was giving lots of headaches to his superiors. He always came full of energy, with new ideas, until they decided to get rid of him. Long story short: he is doing great in his new company where he has progressed quickly, but in our team we still feel his absence. I just wanted to share his story as a lesson for those who want to keep their job here, don’t even try to think differently and be overly engaged. After all, many have already convinced themselves of that, haven't they?

@ original poster.

What business area did this talented person work in?

You should leave too. Surely you can get a job elsewhere where people love you for being you.

It’s simply virtue signaling. It means nothing and is distracting from being successful. So we will go down the drain, but will do it diversely.

Yup. All this talk of diversity. But when it comes to diversity where it matters most, they demand conformity.

Agreed. When you reward groupthink and punish those who proffer dissenting opinions, all you have left are lemmings. Time and again, research has proven that the best business decisions are made with, and the most successful companies encourage, (respectful) discussion of opposing points of view. What happened to your friend is symptomatic of Teradata's continuing downward spiral.
