Retired Red Badge here......organized retail theft has known for years that the culture had changed and there has been a drastic reduction in AP. Everyone on the street now knows how easy it is to steal at Macys.....and if you are caught all you get is a slap on the wrist. Corporate just PRETENDS to listen and care. They do not care about any employee at the store level.....except for maybe the Store Manager.
We listen to announcements all day about how the safety of our customers and colleagues is our #1 priority, we then hear about how great the company is doing on Jeff's quarterly calls, we listen to the regional teams tell us how important we are and how they company realizes how hard we are working BUT these words don't reflect policy at store level. If we can't fill our store jobs or even use our hours, why for the love of god can't we get AP jobs approved for our stores?
Either nobody is listening or nobody cares. Regional and corporate visits where we talk endlessly about grab and runs, increasingly aggressive shoplifters, and unruly customers. Plenty of lip service but no action. We are building a culture where Macy's is an easy target and the bad guys know it.
Hugs to all of you being the face of Macy’s…. Please keep yourself more safe than store inventory.
