If you had to name just one thing what would it be?
For me, the biggest problem is definitely that I feel like I have a million bosses. A person who is just one of our manager’s pets also wants to be my boss and behaves that way. I keep quiet because I need the job.

Macy’s is doing itself in by rewarding brown noses instead of people actually doing the work.
Every store has a survival "Click " which is a group of Managers with some Ap and associates that all bonded together in their jail cell and then throw others under a bus to anyone that messes with the "click" or "Clique". Dirty Ops managers who let AP get away with mu---r , store managers who cover AP running into Parking lots which is against policy. Sales manager get caught doing nothing which is a lot most of the time and its covered up by lies from store manager and AP.. its the band of Weasels !
The horrible toxic work environment that some store leaders foster and allow to fester by showing favoritism to the bu-t kissers.
The store leader allows his favorite people to have every Sunday off. Some employees are told they are global and have to work all over the store in every area and the favorites just stay in their own comfort zone and watch the global people work tirelessly.
The store leaders favorites get a cake and party in the middle of Covid when they retire. The non favorites get nothing when they retire.
I have never witnessed such terrible work conditions since this clown became our store leader.
Can’t wait for the store leader to hopefully get canned. But wait his head is up the regionals a— so I guess all is good.
Hard working employees are taken advantage of in this unethical organization.
A sales manager that either transferred to a different department or is a new hire and the sales associates have to train this person.
I don’t like the miscommunication between different managers and how you get stuck in the middle of it. Also, I hate the favoritism and how some new person who just comes in becomes friendly with one of the executives and all of a sudden they are promoted right away without being qualified for the position. Then there’s the old equipment especially registers and nothing ever works and how they hog the equipment like we are stealing the receipt paper or something. It’s ridiculous.
I used to work at Target which while it had many things that needed improvement, the company provided clear and consistent direction for merchandising and visual execution. At Macy's there is no clear direction, every time we get a new district or regional person, or someone from corporate it is clear that they only thing that matters is the opinion of who has the highest rank during the visit.
We have moved the same merchandise and reflowed our store for visits three times since the start of November. On the last regional visit we got in trouble for a floor move that our district team directed and they didn't even say anything. How much time do we waste moving things around when we have a ton of new freight that hasn't been processed for weeks on the dock. The only thing we seem to care about is looking the way the person visiting the store wants us to look. So many floor moves and not only do customers not care, they get ticked off because they can't find what they are looking for.
Who's running this place? At Target visitors just showed up, no scheduled visits during the holidays. Just show up, see the stores the way they really look, and then maybe leaders will make future decisions based on reality instead of the fantasy they see during visits, not to mention the unrealistic workload and floor moves.
