Thread regarding CNN layoffs

What is with the hiring process here?

I applied for engineering job at CNN+ back in late September, made it through 4 hiring rounds to the final panel interview.

I spent roughly a month interviewing, and spoke with 15 people total! After a 5 hour interview that went very well, I was notified that I didn’t get that job a week and half later.

I went and checked the job again and it looks like they changed the role to ATL only, so I was out of the running after being dragged through the process for weeks on end.

While the people seemed cool, this hiring practice was a little excessive. Can anyone tell me what the culture is like at CNN+?

CNN is an incredibly toxic environment of sycophants nowadays. And CNN + is on borrowed time. I am sorry they wasted your time, but you are better off.

Sounds like ATT nonsense. CNN and Turner used to hire very fast and productively, without all that excess energy. Sorry about your experience.

Are you applying for an under the desk internship with Don Lemon?

Any job interview that requires more than 3 people to make a decision on a candidate screams red flag to me. If CNN took a month to make a decision on a software engineer, they must take a year to find a director. You dodged a bullet.

I had similar experience with Intel. Pre dr-g testing, before interviewing. Flew me to Portland air. Car, hotel. Spent 7 hours with 15 interviews including time for cafeteria lunch. I even cut my pony tail off to appear more “business like”. The last interviewer, and the most senior engineer had hair down to his ….
Anyway I did not go to work at Intel.
Greater things awaited me.

A five hour interview?! And then had to interview with 15 people?! That sounds insane. What did you talk about for 5 hours? On top of that they just ghost you?! I don't know anything about this company, BTW - just could not get over an interview process like that. Gosh, how come no one wants to look for work? It's a mystery.
