Thread regarding Optum layoffs

No more Bravos?

So if I read the email correctly, since my dept is on QVC, we will no longer get Bravos with points in 2022.

Is a bravado like a star sticker you got in elementary school? Why are American workplaces like adult day care?

I will miss the bravo. Our team got them about every other month for the last 11 years. Each one was $500 pre-tax. Sure the boss will make up for the loss during annual review bonuses. I enjoyed them. Our team rules OptumRx. Not loss of jobs here.

Whats a bravo? is it like airline "points" monoply money, etc? Why not simply pay us? Dont want cheap greasy pizza, corn syrup drinks, or dollar store cookies. Pay us.

The facts that make this completely scummy:

  1. Was done via a electronic mumbo jumbo meeting
  2. Just reading a generic script with little eye contact
  3. People not getting laid off show little or no care/robotic speaking/odd USian mannerisms
  4. Not thinking of transferring the staff, just laid them off
  5. Done in the holidays (cant they wait 2 weeks?)
  6. Refusing to take responsibility on anything
  7. Laid off people that worked for them for no pay
  8. Shareholder/partner/trustee/bored member profiteering lust

Bravo was the only program at any company I have worked where an employee could give another employee who is not a manager monetary compensation. Now the only reward will be 100% managed by those managers who play favorites. That's the real loss.

Not everyone can get a bonus. At least with the bravos you got some monetary reward for doing a good job. Mangment is limited on who can get a bonus. So if your team mate is a brown nose and you do all the real work ...... Guess who the manager will pick... Not the hard worker. I just see it as a way for them to cut more US staff and then save money in less bonuses next year.

Bonuses are also a way to funnel money to an employee. Watched my boss and coworker develop a s*ual relationship and every year during 4th quarter some hard working fool would be put on a CAP and she would get a 20k bonus. What some people won’t due for chump change. She would brag about year. Came in one year clutching tightly her little pink Chanel handbag she bought with her bonus money like it was something to be proud of. No one really gave a Sht except the person that was put on a CAP on got nothing.

I'm so GLAD they took the Bravos away. It was definitely a way managers could funnel money to others legally. It's like legalized money laundering!!!!

Bravos got axed. Probably a good thing if your management was playing favorites.

I’m in an audit department and we get Bravo Awards multiple times each year along with a year end bonus. So what is the complaint?

Yes take away something that is not really a perk or incentive that is beneficial unless you are the popular one that bows to the corporate mentality.
