Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Time slips away

There are many who tell me that they planned to leave here much earlier and that they never had a plan to stay here for more than a few months. Still, they stayed for a few years.

I don't understand how it happens that people stay so much longer than planned? I guess time somehow slips away and many don't even realize that they should have left a long time ago.

They string people along; that's why. It's an old tactic to keep people just disgruntled enough to not push harder for the pay they deserve but not quite enough to make them leave. It's essentially management sanctioned employee gaslighting.

Except it's not working anymore and they're hemorrhaging talented people. The rest who stay are actively looking and will leave at the 1st opportunity. Companies who display zero loyalty to their employees receive none in return. It ensures people produce minimum quality necessary to get a paycheck, nothing more.
